Property owners hoping to borrow money for hurricane-proofing their homes or adding solar panels and other improvements by repaying the debt with their tax bills will have to wait.
Commissioners on Tuesday delayed efforts to start up a financing program.
County Manager Roger Desjarlais took issue with the concept of property owners repaying the debt with their tax bills.
“Using our tax bills as a credit card, I think there’s a debate to be held around that and similar public policy issues,” Desjarlais said. Read more.
