PACE in CT: Essex installs solar-powered trash compactor at high school

ESSEX >> The Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority and the Town of Essex has installed a solar-powered trash compactor at the Snack Shack at Valley Regional High School in Deep River.

The system was earned by the Town of Essex through the Clean Energy Communities program, an Energize ConnecticutSM program that incentivizes cities and towns to support energy efficiency and renewable energy.

“The Big Belly trash compactor is a great addition to Valley Regional’s Snack Shack,” said Bruce Glowac, Essex Selectman and Director of Facilities for Region 4 schools. “It is one more demonstration of the strong commitment by the town of Essex to encourage residents and commercial property owners to save money and help our environment through renewable energy improvements.
