Potential for PACE in Iowa

The Iowa Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council is hosting a free presentation Monday about a home energy efficiency program other states have adopted

The event is from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Scott’s Landing Room, of the Embassy Suites, 101 E. Locust St. It will focus on property assessed clean energy programs. The so-called PACE programs allow local governments to make low-interest loans for energy efficiency upgrades to homeowners who in-turn repay the loans on their property tax bills.

Charlene Heydinger, executive director of Keeping PACE in Texas, will speak about how PACE could be used in Iowa to spur job growth, according to a news release from the green building council.

Legislation for PACE programs has been approved in 30 states. It has previously been proposed in Iowa. Read more.
